Your first week

What happens day by day after you sign up, what will look empty or wrong early on, and why most of that is normal.

In 10 seconds

The short version

EOMA accumulates. Nearly every number it shows is a pool that grows every week, so the day you sign up is the day your data is at its thinnest it will ever be. A first-week score is a starting line, not a diagnosis.

That has a practical consequence: half the "something is broken" moments in week one are screens correctly reporting that they have nothing yet. This page tells you which ones those are, so you spend your first week on the things that compound instead of on the things that will fill themselves in.

The work that compounds is all in the same place: the facts you give EOMA about your business. Your website, your real competitors, your markets, your industry. Those are what your questions are written from, and the questions are what everything else is downstream of. Twenty minutes there is worth more than anything else you can do in week one.

How it works

Day 1 — signup and setup. After the card, you go through seven short screens: your brand basics, your website, your competitors, your markets, your industry, your team size, and how you found us. These are pre-filled from a first read of your site, and they are a review of what was found, not a form. If a pre-filled answer is wrong, correct it now — an industry left on a placeholder value ends up shaping your entire question set.

Day 1, minutes later — the build. A progress card takes over your dashboard while the pipeline runs. It fills in five sections as they complete: your brand snapshot, competitors found, social signals, AI-search visibility, and share of voice. This keeps running whether or not you watch it, and you can leave and come back.

Day 1 — your first visibility report. Your first real numbers. Treat this as the "before" photograph. If your visibility percentage is low, that is the ordinary case and it is the reason you bought the product.

Day 1–2 — the Start here checklist. Four deep links on your dashboard: review your first visibility report, see your share of voice against competitors, open your action board, and connect your site so fixes publish automatically. It disappears when you finish or dismiss it.

Day 2–3 — read your question set. This is the highest-value hour of your first week. Open your prompts and read what EOMA is actually asking on your behalf. Are the questions ones your buyers would type? Is your second product line represented? Is the market right? Fix them now, before you have weeks of history measuring the wrong thing.

Day 4–5 — connect a publishing surface. WordPress or GitHub. This is what turns a recommendation into a change on your site instead of a draft you have to copy out by hand. It is optional — you can always export a draft and apply it yourself — but everything downstream is faster with it.

Day 5–7 — start one action. Not five. Start the single most important row and watch it go all the way through to something published. You will learn more about how EOMA works from one completed action than from any amount of reading.

Day 7 — your second run. Paid plans measure once a week. This is the first moment you have two points instead of one. They will disagree, and that disagreement is information about how unstable the engines are in your category, not a fault.

What this means for you

Screens that will be empty or thin in week one, and why. None of these are faults:

What you see Why
Sentiment reads "not measured" Tone analysis is a separate paid step and has not been run for your brand. It is deliberately blank rather than showing a neutral score nobody measured.
Your trend chart has one point, or none A trend needs several windows. Expect a usable line from around week three.
Rank tracking is empty Your keyword set has to be seeded before weekly search-results checks begin. If it is still empty after a few days, tell us — it is not always automatic.
Social listening shows nothing It is Growth and above. On Growth, zero X mentions after a week is worth reporting; on Starter, the section is locked by plan.
The sources board shows very few citations of your own site Common and correct. Most brands have very few citations they earned from questions that did not name them.
Some competitors you have never heard of The engines cite whoever answered the question well, including directories and marketplaces.

Your numbers will move in the first fortnight for reasons that are not about you. The 28-day scoring window is still filling. Judge nothing before week three, and judge the direction rather than the level.

A low first score is the normal starting point. Most brands are absent from most answers when they arrive. That is the gap the product exists to close.

What is genuinely worth reporting in week one: a screen that spins forever, a brand analysis that failed and will not retry, an AI Visibility page that is still completely empty after your second run, or data that has not moved in over a week. Those are real.

Common misunderstandings

People assume Actually
"Setup is a form, so I can click through it." It is a review of what was read off your site, and the answers become your question set. A pre-filled industry left uncorrected shapes months of measurement.
"The build failed because it is taking a while." The pipeline runs several collections and keeps going after you navigate away. A genuine failure shows an explicit failure card with a retry.
"My score is low, so the tool is measuring the wrong thing." Possibly — check your question set. But low is also the ordinary honest answer for a brand the engines have not learned yet.
"I should start every recommended action in week one." On Growth, EOMA runs three jobs at a time and a seat frees as each finishes; on Starter you have three executions in total. Start the one that matters most and learn the loop. On Growth the list tops itself up every week; on Starter each fixed task comes back on its own schedule.
"Week one numbers are my baseline." Week three is your baseline. Week one is a snapshot taken before the window filled.
